Al Azif paid his dues in the Swedish hip-hop community, both as a DJ and a producer for 10 years. But since his love for music couldn’t be contained within the hip-hop echo chamber, Al Azif decided to broaden his horizons, and take his musicianship to a new level, with raw energy as his credo, both in the DJ booth and in the studio.
He emerged in the collective consciousness of Sweden’s music lovers with his quirky remix of Adam Tensta’s smash-hit “My Cool”. The track, a throwback to early- and mid nineties Eurodisco resurrected the iconic Dr Alban and became widely popular gaining support from fans and DJ’s alike.
Al Azif’s true rise to prominence was his remix of Crossfires eclectic dancehall/ house banger “Lady”, which in Al Azif’s hands became a Caribbean flavored ball of energy, and came into rotation on both TV and radio. Lady rose to #1 on the Voice chart almost instantly, and became one of the biggest hits in Sweden during the summer 2008.
His most recent release, the remix for Adam Tenstas latest single “Dopeboy” is the definite tour de force of Al Azif’s musical craftsmanship. Taking an already great song, and sprinkling some of that Al Azif magic dust on top, makes for an electro house banger that puts any Swedish House Mafioso to shame. The final proof that Al Azif is a force to be reckoned with, and that he is here to stay.
